The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is the only permanent institution of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Process, a bi-regional political dialogue platform of 51 countries, the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat. ASEF is publicly funded by voluntary contributions of these 53 ASEM partners.

Education is one of ASEF’s key thematic areas. In this field, ASEF connects the youth, students, teachers & educators, higher education leaders & EdTech experts with policy makers across both regions. Through policy dialogues, capacity building programmes and the creation of bi-regional networks,
ASEF’s Education Department contributes to innovation in the formal and non-formal education sector and towards the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda2030.

ASEF’s projects focus on inclusive & equitable access across all education sectors and engage civil society and government stakeholders in interdisciplinary and lifelong learning opportunities to enhance quality education. Being recognised as the Official Dialogue Partner of ASEM’s Education Ministers’ Meetings and invited to contribute to the agenda of ASEM Head of States/Leaders Summits and ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meetings, ASEF brings the voice of the youth and educators into the ASEM Process and facilitates a structured dialogue between civil society representatives and policy
