Robotics, Automation and Internet of Things

The advance in microprocessors and microcontrollers has enabled the construction of large-scale  automation systems in industry and society, in which robots could play a major role. Especially, the low cost of microcontrollers has enabled the emergence of smart sensors and smart actuators, which in return  has propelled the wide adoptions of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT).

Therefore, the objective of this course is to equip the learners with the basic knowledge of robotics,  automation systems and networked smart devices which are readily deployable in industry and society.

The course’s benefits to the learners include:

  1. The understanding of robotics and automation systems in  industry,

  2. The understanding of networked sensors, actuators and controllers,

  3. and the ability of  applying learnt knowledge to operate robots, automation systems and internet of things in industry and  society,

  4. (optional) the ability of applying learnt knowledge to design and implement robots, automation systems and internet of things for industry and society.
